Individuals suffering from Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia) feel
that people are constantly watching them, judging them – just waiting
for them to make some kind of embarrassing mistake. The degree of
discomfort is such that the individual will avoid certain social
situations (trigger stimulus) altogether, situations like public
speaking, eating out at a restaurant, or using a pubic restroom.
Interacting with perceived figures of authority such as a supervisor at
work is also a source of extreme discomfort.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is
classified as a pervasive worry experienced by the sufferer which lacks
a specific reason or target of concern. While the Generalized Anxiety
Disorder (GAD) sufferer may realize his or her anxiety and worry is
more intense than a particular situation or event warrants, he or she
has difficulty controlling his or her worry and it often interferes
with his or her ability to function normally and comfortably. Anxiety disorders can coexist with other ailments including depression, alcoholism, and other substance abuse.
